Not diagnosed with rd but on methotrexate and plaquenil

There have been a number of coronavirus cases in Florida and two deaths there from the illness. Being on immunosuppressants I'm a little nervous to be travelling there.

Can you drink on plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine and lorazepam Is chloroquine an anitbiotic

You just helped educate me. Thanks. I always thought that plaquenil was not a DMARD, but never bothered to look. I do know that plaquenil is generally considered the least invasive drug, generally prescribed as the first line of treatment. Methotrexate is the most commonly prescribed DMARD, but it does come with the chance of side-effects. I 21M have been on methotrexate for about a year, before that was on plaquenil. I have some osteopenia in my hands and wrists from the RA, along with some arthritic damage in my spine. And many of the middle joints on my fingers are fatter/puffier than they used to be. That's just how it is with RA, yknow? But I'm still not okay with it. I was diagnosed with RA a month ago and am returning to my Rheumatologist tomorrow to discuss treatment options. The doctor said that given where I am right now constant low level pain and light swelling of my hands and wrists but no joint damage showing up on xrays or the ultrasound, she gave me a choice of starting on either Plaquenil or Methotrexate.

Am I crazy to go into an area with known cases of coronavirus? We're watching our government travel advisories and won't go if they issue anything about Florida because our travel insurance won't cover us in that case.

Have never been on plaquenil, only on methotrexate since first diagnosed. Started out with 2 now up to 4. Also take 2 folic acid daily. There was a medical reason could not take plaquenil, but can't remember maybe because I have Dry MD? Sometimes I don't know how I feel. I do know I wish everybody with disease a very gentle day! Reply Delete I also am on plaquenil and have been for several years. Diagnosed with systemic scleroderma in 2002. I have developed pulmonary fibrosis in the lower lobe of my left lung last year and have PFT's done every 6months. Then immediately when for the drugs, colchicine, plaquenil, methotrexate. I refused until I could review the results and consider what I was being told. Turns out these drugs are for CPPD attacks which I have never had. I told her I understood that CPPD could be a symptomatic and these drugs were not appropriate.
